GARNETT W. THURMAN, JR. APPOINTED TO TMA GROUP BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Franklin, TN – The TMA Group (Transportation Management Association) is pleased to announce the appointment of Garnett Thurman, Jr. to The TMA Group Board of Directors.

We continue this tradition with the appointment of Garnett Thurman, Jr.to the TMA Board. Mr. Thurman’s leadership and knowledge of government and community relations in the region will be of great benefit coupled with her interest in providing mobility options to the organization as we continue the growth of TMA’s innovative local and regional transportation solutions.”

Regarding his appointment to The TMA Board of Directors, Mr. Thurman states: “Across the country, communities are continually addressing the transportation needs of citizens and visitors alike, and I am excited about the opportunity to be a part of this public, private partnership’s efforts to address these needs in an affordable and accessible manner throughout the middle Tennessee area.”
- Currently, Garnett Thurman, Jr. serves as the Director of Government & Community Relations for Williamson, Inc. Chamber of Commerce and Office of Economic Development. In this role, Garnett works closely with elected officials, large and small business leaders, and community stakeholders. A native of Frankfort, Kentucky, Garnett has over three decades of government relations, policy, and communications experience in the public and private sectors. His experience includes service as radio news director, advisor to leadership in the Kentucky House of Representatives, lead legislative liaison for a Kentucky executive branch cabinet including more than a dozen state agencies, and over a decade as senior policy consultant for a statewide association serving schools boards for all 171 public school districts in Kentucky. Garnett earned an A.A. from Kentucky State University, a B.A. from Belmont University, and an M.A. from University of the Cumberlands. He is married to Tracey Thurman, also a Belmont graduate. They have one son, Grayson, who graduated from Belmont in 2023.
